BENTONVILLE – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Family Fishing Day scheduled for this weekend has been rescheduled for June 17 at 9 a.m. until noon. Event coordinators decided to postpone the event because of weather forecasts predicting a 90 percent chance of thunderstorms and rain this Saturday.“And we want as many people as possible to join in the fun and have great memories of angling with family and friends,” said Spencer Griffith, marketing coordinator for the AGFC. “Fish will bite in the rain, but rescheduling the event lets people enjoy the whole experience.”
While fishing is the focus of the event, there will be many extras thrown in thanks to partnerships with the City of Bentonville and nearby businesses. Live music will play throughout the event. Domino’s Pizza will provide free food during the derby, and AGFC staff will be on hand with prize packages, including fishing gear to keep the tradition going for many years to come.
