HARRISBURG — Fisheries biologists with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will hold a public meeting at Calvary Baptist Church Life Center at 6 p.m., May 9 to discuss the progress of the ongoing renovation of Lake Poinsett. The Life Center is at 503 S. Illinois Ave. in Harrisburg.
The meeting will focus on updating all interested parties in the progress of the project, highlighting milestones and outlining work to be completed in the coming months.
Work to replace the water control structure began on April 1, 2019.
Although the replacement of the water control structure originally was estimated to be complete in mid-May of 2019, unforeseen delays from weather have forced the AGFC to extend that completion date to August 2019, weather permitting.
“We’re extremely thankful of the patience of local anglers in this project and their willingness to step up and help with fish attractors and other aspects of the renovation,” said Brett Timmons, AGFC regional fisheries biologist.
This open meeting will be held using the town hall format. Anyone wishing to speak is encouraged to sign up at the door. Once the introduction and update are complete, attendees will have the opportunity to ask any questions or offer any comments regarding the project.
