You are hereby notified that Commissioners of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will meet on the following dates and times to consider any business that may be brought before the Commission. AGFC lays fishing foundation at Lake Poinsett

HARRISBURG — The shovels may be done turning dirt at Lake Poinsett, but biologists are still busy laying the foundation for good fishing in the newly renovated lake in Poinsett County. Last week, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocked thousands of baitfish into the waters of the refilling lake in an effort to produce a fantastic fishery in the coming years.

BENTONVILLE — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be delivering catchable-sized channel catfish throughout the state this week, and no anglers are ready for the additional fish like the young men and women who frequent Lake Bentonville in northeast Arkansas.

AGFC working with state legislators to combat failing infrastructure on public lands and waters

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is working with Arkansas state legislators to address concerns about failing and outdated infrastructure that provides habitat for the state’s fish and wildlife and public recreation opportunities. To tackle this challenge, they are working together to propose a modest increase to basic resident hunting and fishing licenses, which have remained unchanged since 1990 and 1984, respectively. “This increase is supported by many of the state’s conservation and sportsman's groups,” said Geralyn Hoey, Director of Conservation Partnerships with the National Wildlife Federation.

Arkansas youth hunters check more than 800 turkeys

LITTLE ROCK — Strong winds may have dampened the sound of some gobblers last weekend, but there was no dampening the spirit of the youths participating in the 2021 Arkansas turkey youth hunt. Hunters 6 to 15 years old managed to harvest 813 birds between Saturday and Sunday’s hunts.
