Greene County Tech takes ANASP senior title; Charleston, Eagle Mountain win divisions

LITTLE ROCK – The excitement of a full arena in Hot Springs and hundreds of shooters lined up from one end of the hall to the other was missing, but the Arkansas National Archery in the School Program determined 2021 champions in senior high, middle school and elementary divisions this week thanks to technology.

Southeast Arkansas WMAs closed March 8-13

MONTICELLO – Trusten Holder, Freddie Black Choctaw Island, Cut-Off Creek and Seven Devils wildlife management areas will be closed to daytime public access March 8-13. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be conducting aerial operations aimed at reducing feral hog populations on the areas. The flights will be dependent on the weather.

AGFC moves forward with Warren shooting range expansion

LITTLE ROCK — Shooting enthusiasts and hunters will soon have a new facility to hone their skills in southeast Arkansas, thanks to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s recent approval to enter into a new subgrant agreement with the city of Warren to expand the existing shooting range.

Virtual archery state championships host 96 teams across Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — Social-distancing requirements may have prevented the typical scene at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs for this year’s Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program State Championships, but schools from across the state still are competing to see who is the best at Olympic-style archery this week.

Arkansas boating accidents double in 2020

HOT SPRINGS — Arkansas waters saw a spike in the number of boating accidents last year compared to 2019, according to data compiled by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s annual Boating Accident Year-end Report.

UA Pine Tree WDA closed March 1-6

FORREST CITY – The University of Arkansas Pine Tree Experimental Station WDA will be closed to daytime public access March 1-6.
