PARAGOULD — Thanks to the continued partnership of the National Wild Turkey Federation and Greene County Wildlife Club with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, a small, yet important piece of land inside the boundary of W.E. Brewer Scatter Creek Wildlife Management Area is now part of public hunting opportunities in northeast Arkansas.

Many of the more colorful migratory birds will be making their way back north in the next few months, but birds of prey are the featured attraction right now.

LITTLE ROCK — Although most Arkansans hold “The Natural State” motto near and dear to their hearts, a continued decline in hunting and angling has Commissioners and staff at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission concerned that the funding for natural resource management is in jeopardy.
East Arkansas wildlife areas closed Feb. 18-29

MONTICELLO – Four eastern Arkansas wildlife areas will be temporarily closed Feb. 18-29. Freddie Black Choctaw Island WMA, Cutoff Creek WMA, Trusten Holder WMA and University of Arkansas Pine Tree Experimental Station WDA will be temporarily closed while the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, conducts aerial operations aimed at reducing feral hog populations on the areas.
Arkansas Turkey Stamp promotes habitat conservation and awareness

LITTLE ROCK — The inaugural Arkansas Turkey Stamp is now available to order through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s online licensing system at www.agfc.com. Conservation-minded individuals may also order the stamp at any license dealer, regional office or AGFC nature center. The stamp is not required to hunt turkeys in the state of Arkansas, but was created to give conservationists and turkey enthusiasts a way to help support conservation efforts for the species.
