LITTLE ROCK - With the dove season opener this Saturday, hunters are reminded to check their licenses to ensure they’ve registered for the Harvest Information Program. They should also be on the lookout for doves sporting a leg band.

 

Horsehead Lake set for fall drawdown

HARMONY - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will lower the water level of Horsehead Lake beginning Sept. 4. The drawdown will lower the lake’s water level by 3 to 5 feet and should last until mid-winter.

Biologists work against the clock, weather to prepare public dove fields

LITTLE ROCK – With drying conditions after a mostly rainy August, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife management area personnel have been able to prepare more fields for public dove hunting beginning Sept. 1.

Arkansas Wildlife Fishing Report

Fifteen-year-old Nathan Juhl of Maumelle was fishing with his dad on Cook's Lake when he caught these two nice bass as well as several others. Cook's Lake is open to fishing for youth and mobility-impaired anglers (plus two "helpers") every first and third Saturday of the month through October.
