Ella Kate Brown caught her personal best crappie, 14.5 inches long, while recently fishing the backwater of the Arkansas River with her dad, Brandon. Ella Kate was using a black/hot pink Bobby Garland Jig.

Hogging catfish doesn't get a lot of attention among our photos for the Fishing Report, but (from left) Lee Scallion, JT Whiteaker, Michael Conover and Jayke Throgmartin brought some cats in at Lake Chicot in southeast Arkansas June 6. "They will bite you," Scallion, who sent us the photo, said.

Allen Haney caught this longnose gar on rod and reel just south of the Toad Suck launch on the Arkansas River. Robert Mauldin and Scotty Lewis provided moral support during the catch, Allen said. The gar weighed about 16 pounds and was 50 inches long. It was caught on cut shad and was released just after photos were taken. Photo provided by Allen Haney.
