OIL TROUGH – A new case of chronic wasting disease has been found in Independence County. A hunter-harvested white-tailed deer taken east of Oil Trough tested positive for the disease.

LITTLE ROCK — Hunters headed to deer camp to get things ready for opening weekend of modern gun deer season may want to make a quick pitstop to fuel up at their local star-struck fast-food chain. Every Hardee’s restaurant in Arkansas will give a free sausage biscuit to anyone who shows their valid hunting license to the cashier from 5-11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. 

Disabled veterans enjoy deer hunt weekend in southeast Arkansas

ARKANSAS CITY – For the third straight year, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the national organization Freedom Defender Outdoors were able to provide a special weekend of modern gun deer hunting and bonding for disabled veterans. Five veterans were invited to a permit deer hunt at the Freddie Black Choctaw Island Wildlife Management Area West Unit the weekend of Oct. 25-27.

Special Ozark Isle youth muzzleloader deer hunt announced

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking applications from youth hunters who would like to participate in a special muzzleloader deer hunt Dec. 14 and 15 in Ozark Isle Park/Dry Run area at Bull Shoals Lake. Eight permits will be issued to hunter education graduates 15-years-old and under. Applicants must submit a completed application form, including their hunter education identification number, by Nov. 8, 2019. A random drawing to select the hunters will be held at 10 a.m. at the Corps’ project office in Mountain Home, Arkansas on Nov. 12.
