LITTLE ROCK — The July-August issue of Arkansas Wildlife sets a new year in motion – it’s the bimonthly magazine’s calendar issue.
It seems strange that a calendar issue would be published in the middle of the year, although it makes sense in this case.
“We publish the July-July calendar so we can include all the hunting dates, which generally are approved in late spring,” Arkansas Wildlife editor Jeff Williams said. “We couldn’t be sure of the dates if we published a traditional January-December version.”
The 2022-23 calendar featured photographs from members of the Arkansas Wildlife Facebook group – no relation to the magazine – and the 2023-24 edition will do the same.
“We had so many fine images from that group that we had plenty for another calendar,” Williams said. “We thank those photographers for taking the time and effort to share their outdoor experiences.”
Arkansas Wildlife has been continuously published by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission since 1967. The calendar issue and five regular issues comprise an annual subscription, which is $12. A two-year subscription is $20 and a three-year subscription is $25.
