The Wild Science Webinar is a monthly series featuring Arkansas Game and Fish Commission staff presenting research and projects about Arkansas fish and wildlife. In this month's webinar, Eric Brinkman, Assistant Chief of Aquatic Conservation, will present "Movements and Macrohabitat Use of Alligator Gar in Relation to a Low Head Lock and Dam System" and Dr. Jennifer Ballard, State Wildlife Veterinarian and Assistant Chief of the Research Division, will present "Arkansas Hunters' Perceptions of Chronic Wasting Disease Management".

LITTLE ROCK – The application period to catch and keep a trophy-size Arkansas alligator gar opens Nov. 1 and closes Dec. 31. Only 200 tags will be awarded for the 2022 calendar year. This tag is required to harvest an alligator gar larger than 36 inches.

2019 Arkansas fishing guidebooks available

LITTLE ROCK – The latest edition of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s fishing and trout fishing guidebooks are being distributed to AGFC offices and license dealers around the state. The guide is free and contains a few changes from 2018. Visit www.agfc.com/guidebooks to download a copy for for your home computer or smartphone, or pick one up at any AGFC nature centerregional office or license dealer.

Trophy alligator gar tags drawn in Arkansas for 2019

LITTLE ROCK — One hundred lucky anglers and bowfishermen were successful in drawing this year’s allotment of Alligator Gar Trophy Tags last week. These tags are required to take an alligator gar 36 inches or longer in Arkansas.
