AGFC, AEDC offer $713,000 from poaching fines to Arkansas schools

LITTLE ROCK – Nearly three-quarters of a million dollars is available for Arkansas schools this year, thanks to a partnership between the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Rural Services to turn poaching violations into education opportunities. 

Summer course keeps archers at full draw

MAYFLOWER — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Arkansas Bowhunters Association will hold a special “Introduction to Bowhunting and 3-D Archery Tournaments” workshop from 8:30-11:30 a.m., Aug. 5, at the AGFC’s Fiocchi Shooting Sports Complex in Mayflower (formerly known as the Camp Robinson Shooting Range). 

Bergman athlete arrows college scholarship with archery

BERGMAN — Fanfare often surrounds national signing day for high-school seniors accepting college scholarships to play basketball, football, baseball and softball, but many other high-school athletes will go to college next fall thanks to other sports. In the case of Bergman senior Tripp Siemiller, it was bending a bow and launching an arrow with pinpoint precision that led to his offer from the University of Pikeville in Kentucky to shoot at the collegiate level.

Bergman takes high school state archery championship, Barton and Washington round out middle and elementary divisions

HOT SPRINGS — Bergman High School walked away with a decisive victory in the High School Division of the 15th annual Archery in the Schools State Championship held Saturday at Bank OZK Arena. Bergman’s  top 12 archers posted an impressive 3,285 points out of a possible 3,600 to walk away with the state crown.

Wildlife fines provide $645,493 to support conservation education in schools

LITTLE ROCK – Thanks to wildlife violation fines collected by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling $645,493.22 to promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to 206 schools, school districts and conservation districts in 68 Arkansas counties.

Take aim at an AGFC archery range before heading to the field

LITTLE ROCK — With archery deer season cranking into gear Sept. 24, many hunters will be headed to the woods for the first time for the year soon. While you’re out and about in one of the many wildlife management areas throughout the state, you might notice a few additions to the facilities available for outdoors enthusiasts this year. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has been able to add a few new archery ranges to some of the WMAs, shooting ranges and parks to help archers stay on target this season.

Bowhunting opportunity for dinosaurs and sasquatch coming to AGFC archery range

CONWAY – Archery buffs throughout Arkansas are invited to take their shot at some of the most interesting targets and challenging situations offered in the bowhunting world at the R100 being held at the Camp Robinson Special Use Area archery ranges May 13-15. The archery ranges are at 331 Clinton Road in Conway.
