AGFC boosts stocking capability at Parker Bend

EUREKA SPRINGS — Thanks to a partnership with Trout Unlimited Chapter 514 in northwest Arkansas, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recently completed renovations at the Parker Bend stocking chute on the Beaver Tailwater. The new chute will enable rainbow trout stockings to occur much more frequently at Parker Bend, distributing trout more evenly in the tailwater.

MOUNTAIN HOME – Native to Europe, the German brown trout found in the tailwaters of Beaver, Bull Shoals, Norfork and Greers Ferry dams, typically start their spawning run during fall and winter, offering die-hard anglers a chance at some fantastic fishing. But biologists ask anglers to keep a conservation mindset when chasing these gems of the tailwater so everyone will be able to enjoy them for years to come.

FAYETTEVILLE — The Northwest Arkansas Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the nation’s grassroots army for trout and fisheries restoration and conservation, has named Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Stream Habitat Supervisor Tim Burnley as this year’s recipient of the annual Ray Smith Conservation Award.
