AGFC’S Hogan hatchery improvements to increase efficiency

LONOKE — Thanks to a planned renovation, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Joe Hogan State Fish Hatchery will soon be able to increase efficiency and provide even more benefit to Arkansas anglers. The next phase of the Hogan renovation, slated for this year, includes the engineering and construction of an indoor spawning and hatching facility for warmwater species raised at the hatchery.

MAYFLOWER — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Habitat for the Holidays Program supplies anglers throughout the state with used and leftover Christmas trees to sweeten up their own fishing locations, but anglers at Lake Conway’s Lawrence Landing saw a bonus batch of trees thanks to Lowe’s home improvement store in Conway.

Boaters reminded to unplug when trailering vessels

LITTLE ROCK – Anglers and hunters and other boaters who use the state’s waterways are being reminded by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Fisheries Division of a new regulation that took effect Jan. 1, 2021, requiring all boat drain plugs to be removed before and during trailering of vessels to and from access facilities on lakes, rivers and streams.
