Dastardly hot hoppers

MOUNTAIN HOME — The dog days of summer in Arkansas can be downright, dastardly hot. Fly fishing in the Ozarks during this time, however, can have its benefits. Grasshoppers that live along the edges of the river find they have jumped, fallen or landed in that cold water - where the trout lie and wait. That’s where more astute fly fishers will be, as well.

Second public meeting on DeGray Lake scheduled for Thursday

ARKADELPHIA — The second of two public meetings being held by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission on DeGray Lake will be from 6 to 8 p.m., June 27 at the Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Department at 2555 Twin Rivers Drive in Arkadelphia.

Reusable plastic card adds options for hunting and fishing license holders

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas hunters and anglers now have the option of carrying proof of their hunting and fishing license purchase on a special weather-resistant card, offered through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s licensing system. The new plastic card license is available at licensning.agfc.com and is reusable each year. 
 

Public meetings scheduled for DeGray Lake Fisheries Management Plan

ARKADELPHIA — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is hosting two public meetings to gather fishing-related public input on DeGray Lake. The meetings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., June 20 and 27 at the Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Department at 2555 Twin Rivers Drive in Arkadelphia.

LITTLE ROCK – Thanks to a proclamation by Gov. Asa Hutchinson, anyone may fish in Arkansas without a fishing license or trout stamp from noon, Friday, June 7, through midnight Sunday night, June 9.
