Arkansas Wildlife Weekly Fishing Report

A photographer from Paragould managed to get this trout fishing shot from Norfork River the weekend before last using his phone. He says he'd forgotten his camera, so with no time available to run back and grab the camera, his phone had to fill in; otherwise the fish, and the gorgeous scene you see, would have been long gone. You don't often hear about largemouth bass being caught in the cool Spring River of northeastern Arkansas, where the targets are usually trout and smallmouth bass, but Chuck Lajuanesse landed a largemouth fishing with guide Mark Crawford. Crawford reports that the Spring is very low and there are pools where black bass are congregating and feasting with the arrival of fall.

This couple found the largemouth bass biting very well this past weekend at Lake Charles in northeast Arkansas. Most other species there were fair, but the black bass have turned on in the water as it drops below 70 degrees in Lake Charles State Park.

Agustin Icka from Chile was visiting his godparents in Arkansas for the first time and had never caught trout, at least until this trip. Fishing out of Gaston's Resort on the White RIver with guide Paul Jones and Graeme Shaw, his godfather from Marmaduke, Agustin and the others had an "outrageous" fishing experience, according to Graeme, with multiple trophy fish hauled in, including this gorgeous brown trout. Keith (no last name provided) from Missouri caught and released this beautiful 24-inch, 6- pound rainbow trout while fishing out of Jenkins Fishing and Motel at Calico Rock.

Collin Bryant of Memphis caught what he said was "the catch of a lifetime" last Thursday (Sept. 14) on the Spring River at Mammoth Spring, a 20-inch brown trout, his personal best. After this photo, he released it back to the Spring.
