AGFC bolsters fish habitat in Bull Shoals Lake

MOUNTAIN HOME —  The Fisheries Division of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission completed a near all-hands-on-deck habitat project in December 2022, adding hundreds of trees to fish attractors across Bull Shoals Lake in northern Arkansas. The effort was one of many the lake has seen to improve angler success at this famous Natural State fishing destination.

Walleye production high on Bull Shoals, Norfork lakes

MOUNTAIN HOME – High-water events in recent years are paying off in a big walleye bite on Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes in north Arkansas, not only this spring but for the last several years, according to anglers from local fishing clubs, resort owners and guides on the lakes.

Former Commissioner, Arkansas boat-building legend dies

FLIPPIN — Forrest Wood, founder of Ranger Boats and former Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner, died Saturday at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was 87. Keith Daffron, Wood’s oldest grandson, posted to social media that “Peacefully, with his family by his side, Forrest L. Wood of Flippin passed away on Jan. 25, 2020 in his 87th year.”

Massachusetts transplant claims top seat in Master Angler Program

FLIPPIN – When it comes to big fish, many anglers have a lot of tall tales. But one Arkansas angler can prove that he has more trophy-size fish under his belt than anyone. Last year, Roger Pyzocha, a Massachusetts native who now lives in Flippin caught his 23rd Arkansas fish that qualified for the AGFC’s Master Angler Program.

Bull Shoals benefits from major habitat enhancement project

As cold fronts finally begin to push the mercury down in Arkansas, many fair-weather fishermen have called it quits for the season, but that doesn’t mean the work stops for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Fisheries biologists and technicians from across the state have been diligently working for the last week to enhance fishing opportunities on Bull Shoals Lake in northwest Arkansas, even though many anglers won’t see the impact of these efforts until the weather warms.

Second public input meeting scheduled for trout management on White and North Fork rivers

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host a special public workshop from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Aug. 24, at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center in Convention Center Rooms A and B. The center is located on the ASU Mountain Home campus.  The purpose of the workshop is to review and revise the Bull Shoals and Norfork Tailwaters Trout Management Plan.
