Fish consumption advisory issued for Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes

MOUNTAIN HOME – According to the Arkansas Department of Health, anglers pursuing walleye on Bull Shoals Lake in Marion, Baxter and Boone counties, and Norfork Lake in Baxter and Fulton counties may want to pay attention to the amount of fish they consume from these lakes. Last week, the ADH issued a fish consumption advisory for large walleye in these two north Arkansas reservoirs.

FLIPPIN – A walleye that could top 9 pounds was all that was keeping Roger Pyzocha from claiming catches in all eight of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Master Angler Program categories, but it was proving elusive these past couple of years. Finally, after a few near misses on the weight scale with 8-pounders, Pyzocha recently landed a 9.2-pound walleye on Bull Shoals Lake to reach a goal he’d set out to achieve seven years ago.

Anglers can find additional golden rainbows in White River

NORFORK – More golden rainbow trout have been stocked in the White River system below Bull Shoals Lake dam. About 500 of the rainbow trout that have a color variation making them appear a bright golden yellow were part of a shipment of 10,000 rainbow trout stocked Monday from the access here to other points upriver toward the dam.

Special Ozark Isle youth muzzleloader deer hunt announced

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking applications from youth hunters who would like to participate in a special muzzleloader deer hunt Dec. 14 and 15 in Ozark Isle Park/Dry Run area at Bull Shoals Lake. Eight permits will be issued to hunter education graduates 15-years-old and under. Applicants must submit a completed application form, including their hunter education identification number, by Nov. 8, 2019. A random drawing to select the hunters will be held at 10 a.m. at the Corps’ project office in Mountain Home, Arkansas on Nov. 12.
