LITTLE ROCK — Once the wrapping paper has been thrown away and the last drop of eggnog has been consumed, few people have a use for that evergreen tree that graced their home during the holiday season. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has a new job for those leftover trees: fish habitat.
Wildlife officers join ‘Shop With a Cop’

TEXARKANA — Each December, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officers join with other law enforcement agencies to help underprivileged and at-risk children in Arkansas. This year, officers from Lafayette and Miller counties paired with over 160 kids for a shopping spree called “Shop With a Cop” leading up to Christmas.

LITTLE ROCK — One of the annual traditions at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is the yearly stocking of rainbow trout to Family and Community Fishing Program locations from November through February. Another tradition is to add special prize-winning tags to randomly selected fish in these stockings for anglers to enjoy even more.

Christmas and antlerless-only deer hunts to wrap up 2020-21 modern gun deer season

Arkansans looking for one last chance to bag a deer at the end of the season this year will have three additional days to take a doe after the Modern Gun Christmas Holiday Hunt to fill their tag. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unanimously voted in May to move the Private Land Antlerless Only Deer Hunt from the middle of October to the last days of December in hopes to increase participation in the hunt.

LITTLE ROCK – Bird-watching enthusiasts across the nation will be keeping their eyes to the skies from Dec. 14-Jan. 5, those are the dates for the 121st annual Christmas Bird Count conducted by the National Audubon Society.
