Wildlife fines provide $645,493 to support conservation education in schools

LITTLE ROCK – Thanks to wildlife violation fines collected by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling $645,493.22 to promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to 206 schools, school districts and conservation districts in 68 Arkansas counties.

AGFC offering anglers the tools to prevent the spread of giant salvinia from Erling

TAYLOR — Anglers visiting Lake Erling will find a new cleaning station for their boats at AGRED Park and boat ramp — one designed to help fight the spread of aquatic nuisance species such as giant salvinia, a floating aquatic plant native to South America,  considered one of the world's worst invasive plants, and one the lake owners and AGFC have been fighting since its arrival to the lake in 2018.

Apply to become an intern for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission this summer

These internships, funded by sales of the AGFC’s Conservation License Plates, let students gain hands-on training and experience needed to compete for a future career in conservation.

AGFC, partners remove defunct Saline River crossing for angler, fish access

DIERKS — According to Tim Burnley, Stream Habitat Program supervisor for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, many manmade low-water crossings, bridges and dams can impede the movements of fish to spawning areas, especially smaller fish species. Thanks to a partnership with Weyerhaeuser, one such dilapidated low-water crossing was removed to help promote fish movement and improve safety for recreational floaters and anglers in southwest Arkansas.
