AGFC plans Arkansas Deer Update for hunters

LITTLE ROCK — Biologists and staff from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host a live Arkansas Deer Update on the AGFC YouTube channel beginning at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 for hunters heading into the meat of deer season.

The Wild Science Webinar is a monthly series featuring Arkansas Game and Fish Commission staff and guest speakers presenting research and projects about Arkansas fish and wildlife. Jeremy Brown, Deer Management Assistance Program Coordinator, will present "Thermal Drones: What is their Role in White-Tailed Deer Management?". Eric Gates, Fisheries Management Biologist, will present "Exploitation of Striped Bass Populations in Arkansas Reservoirs".

Rock Creek Ranch named Arkansas deer club of the year

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission named Rock Creek Ranch in Franklin County as the Deer Management Assistance Program Club of the year at the second annual Natural State Landowner Conservation Awards banquet held at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in downtown North Little Rock July 19.

AGFC suggests ways timber firms, lease holders can take action to boost wildlife

Antlerless only hunt to wrap up 2020-21 modern gun deer season

Arkansans looking for one last chance to bag a deer at the end of the season this year will have three additional days to take a doe after the Modern Gun Christmas Holiday Hunt to fill their tag. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unanimously voted in May to move the Private Land Antlerless Only Deer Hunt from the middle of October to the last days of December in hopes to increase participation in the hunt.

AGFC looking for deer stand research assistants

LITTLE ROCK – Hunters can help the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s wildlife management efforts through the AGFC’s free Deer Hunting Observation Survey available through the AGFC app. The app is available through both the iTunes app store and the Google Play store.
