Marion expects big turnout for Family Fun Day Saturday

MARION – Terry Wirth saw all the activities surrounding a Family Fun Day at Beebe last month, the first one put on by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Family and Community Fishing Program since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and knew his upcoming event would be something special.

LITTLE ROCK – Thousands of channel catfish from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hatcheries are being stocked at several locations around the state, and a select few carry a “bonus prize” if you catch them.

AGFC hosts seniors’ fishing event

MAUMELLE — Join the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Family and Community Fishing Program in Maumelle for a fishing derby focused on the “well seasoned” anglers. A special fishing event will be held from 9 a.m. until noon, Sept. 10, at Lake Valencia for any angler 50 years and older.

AGFC releasing tagged catfish just in time for The Big Catch

LITTLE ROCK — The cats with the tags are back, and this year, they’ll be swimming in Boyle Park Pond just in time for The Big Catch, a community fishing event and health fair on May 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants can win prizes, enjoy music and some much needed fresh air in addition to the free fishing fun, courtesy of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Community First Alliance.

LITTLE ROCK — Turkey, dressing and football may be at the front of people’s thoughts during the Thanksgiving holiday, but the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has another tradition some people may want to take part in. The AGFC’s Family and Community Fishing Program is busy stocking rainbow trout in FCFP locations throughout the state.
