Henry Gray WMA drainage project a marathon, not a sprint

GEORGETOWN — If only opening up the water drainage in a wildlife management area were as simple as pouring in a few hundred gallons of Liquid Plumber. Of course, it’s not. The drainage corridors in the South Unit of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Henry Gray Hurricane Lake WMA are so clogged, the AGFC summoned a Louisiana company to send two amphibious mulching machines and an amphibious excavator to clear the way for water to drain out of the unit.

Greentree reservoir infrastructure operation plans similar to last waterfowl season

LITTLE ROCK – Duck hunters making plans for their 2019-20 season in Arkansas’s famed public greentree reservoirs will find similar operation plans in place this season as they saw last year. 
 

Forest management plants seeds for future hunting opportunity at Dagmar WMA

BRINKLEY — Wildlife habitat at Sheffield Nelson Dagmar Wildlife Management Area in Monroe County has seen a huge boost for the future, thanks to proactive work to create the next generation of forest on a small portion of the area managed for waterfowl. Habitat surveys conducted this spring show excellent results from the recent removal of select trees on Mud Slough Greentree Reservoir, promoting food for ducks, deer and a variety of other wildlife species for many generations to come.

Green’s habitat studies on greentree reservoir issues earn Dunklin Award

LITTLE ROCK –Lorne Green’s work with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission greentree reservoirs through forest management earned the Warren native the George H. Dunklin Jr. Arkansas Waterfowl and Wetland Management Award, presented at the AGFC’s monthly commission meeting in March.
