Lake Chicot receives new plumbing for fish

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Fisheries staff have spent the last three weeks chopping and fitting PVC pipes to improve Lake Chicot, but they aren’t concerned with how the water is flowing. The PVC is being used to create complex fish attractors to sink at strategic points in the lake to offer anglers places where fish are likely to congregate.
Youth fishing tournament anglers encouraged to dump some brush on the AGFC

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has created a new award program specifically for youth fishing tournament organizations to help do their part in improving aquatic habitat in Arkansas reservoirs. Fishing tournament organizations affiliated with an Arkansas junior high, high school or college can apply for an award ranging from $500 to $1,000 to offset the costs of building and sinking brush piles and other habitat in Arkansas lakes.
Black Bass Program featured in Henderson State University habitat project

Nearly 100 cedar trees destined for the burn pile were repurposed as fish habitat at DeGray Lake, thanks to an innovative partnership between the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Black Bass Program and Henderson State University’s Biology Club and Fishing Team in March.
