Artists urged to submit work for 2023 state quail and turkey stamp competitions

LINCOLN — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, in coordination with Historic Cane Hill and the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation, invites artists from throughout the nation to participate in this year’s expanded Arkansas State Quail and Turkey Stamp Art Competition.

In this month's webinar, Clint Johnson, Quail Program Coordinator, will present "A Bird's Tale: Grassland Songbird Response to Quail Habitat Restoration" and Jeff Buckingham, Black Bass Program Biologist, will present "Arkansas's Unique Smallmouth Bass".

Estimated decline in duck population only part of fall flight story

LITTLE ROCK — According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s report “Waterfowl Population Status, 2022,” released in late August, total duck population estimates in spring 2022 declined 12 percent from the last recorded survey taken in 2019, but that doesn’t necessarily sound an alarm with waterfowl managers who have seen similar fluctuations in the past.

AGFC’s newest quail stamp available; new Quail Program coordinator named

A new Northern Bobwhite Conservation Stamp for 2022 is available for voluntary purchase, with the proceeds helping fund the Arkansas Game and Fish Commissions restoration efforts for quail in The Natural State.

The break in triple-digit temperatures may inspire many outdoors enthusiasts to pick up their hiking, cycling and camping adventures, and many hunters’ minds already are centered around improvements they can make in their favorite hunting location or scouting a new piece of public land for fall. If you happen to scare up a covey of quail or see a turkey during your adventures, the AGFC wants to know.
