Application period begins for private-land permit dove hunts

LITTLE ROCK – Dove season is right around the corner marking the first statewide fall hunting season, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is providing several opportunities for sportsmen to include permit hunts on private lands.

BRINKLEY — Wildlife habitat at Sheffield Nelson Dagmar Wildlife Management Area in Monroe County has seen a huge boost for the future, thanks to proactive work to create the next generation of forest on a small portion of the area managed for waterfowl. Habitat surveys conducted this spring show excellent results from the recent removal of select trees on Mud Slough Greentree Reservoir, promoting food for ducks, deer and a variety of other wildlife species for many generations to come.
 

Waterfowl hunting dates for nonresidents on Arkansas wildlife management areas available

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission voted to relax hunting regulations on certain predator species during a special meeting via teleconference today. The regulations had been proposed during its June 20 meeting, but were not able to be voted upon until today to allow sufficient time for public comment.

AGFC, Cache River NWR partner on dove fields

BRINKLEY – Along with several fields annually prepared for public dove hunting on the state’s wildlife management areas, and the four private land fields being prepped for permit hunts, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has partnered with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to offer two fields for public dove hunting in 2019 in the Cache River National Wildlife Refuge.
