LITTLE ROCK – With drying conditions after a mostly rainy August, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife management area personnel have been able to prepare more fields for public dove hunting beginning Sept. 1.

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has activated many options for hunters to test their harvested deer for chronic wasting disease for the upcoming hunting season. All methods to test deer for CWD in Arkansas are voluntary and most are free of charge to the hunter.

LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas deer hunters saw a big change in the way they could check their deer last year. Many, however, were left wanting their old waterproof game tags to ensure their deer were properly marked. This year those tags are right inside the annual hunting guidebooks being delivered to stores across the state in the next few weeks.

LITTLE ROCK – Commissioners with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission proposed an amendment to waterfowl hunting regulations today to specify when non-residents can hunt waterfowl on wildlife management areas to specific blocks of dates.

LITTLE ROCK - Cutting a tree, let alone an oak, seems like a sin to many hunters. These beneficial trees produce the acorns that are seen as the lifeblood of hunting season. Many a hunter has placed their deer stand based on the availability of a hot section of forest where the acorns are dropping, and more than one hunter has called foul when they see small sections of their favorite duck woods suddenly logged and resulting brushy areas beginning to grow.
Bear hunting seminar slated for Fort Smith nature center

FORT SMITH - Myron Means, large carnivore program coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will host a seminar dedicated to hunting black bears at the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday Aug. 30.
