Coronavirus slows Arkansas fish hatcheries, halts 2020 striped bass project

HOT SPRINGS — Just as Arkansans have been able to enjoy most outdoor activities during the current coronavirus emergency, most conservation professionals have been able to perform their job duties with some creative thinking and modifications to their routine. Workers at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s five fish hatcheries, however, have not been as fortunate.
Continued angler involvement helps shape management plan for DeGray Lake

BISMARK — Thanks to the input of Arkansas anglers who participated in public workshops last year as well as the results of a tremendous amount of data collection on the fish populations, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recently developed its 2019 Fishery Management Plan for DeGray Lake. The plan will help guide management decisions about the fishery in the lake during the next 5 years.
Greers Ferry focus groups help craft fishery management plan

HEBER SPRINGS — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has completed its new fishery management plan for Greers Ferry Lake thanks in part to the input of anglers through recent public meetings and surveys. The plan addresses steps the AGFC will take to improve the fishing experience for all anglers on this popular body of water during the next five years.

ARKADELPHIA – Hybrid striped bass are hard-pulling sport fish that have a reputation for being cooperative when bass and crappie become finicky. These man-made crosses of a white bass and their striped bass cousins also cause a bit of controversy between anglers who fish for them and those who prefer other species.
