LITTLE ROCK — The opening weekend of dove season is celebrated throughout The Natural State as the unofficial celebration of fall hunting. Although most dove hunting takes place on private agricultural land, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has some special opportunities hunters should take an interest in.

JASPER — Twenty-one applicants won permits to hunt elk on public land during two seasons this year. Winners were drawn during the Buffalo River Elk Festival, June 24, in Jasper.

LITTLE ROCK – Applications for the 2023 Arkansas alligator season are available at www.agfc.com from 8 a.m. June 10 through midnight June 18. Anyone interested in pursuing alligators on public land in Arkansas must apply for one of the six hunting locations within two of Arkansas’s three open Alligator Management Zones.

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will accept applications Jan. 15-Feb. 15 from hunters who want to hunt on many wildlife management areas during the 2023 Arkansas turkey season.

STUTTGART — Looking for a spot to call your own for a day or even a weekend during duck season? Check out some of the online draw opportunities available through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. In addition to permit hunts on Steve N. Wilson Raft Creek Bottoms WMA, the Red Cut Slough tract at Cypress Bayou WMA, the Conway George tract at Sheffield Nelson Dagmar WMA and Freddie Black Choctaw Island West Unit WMA, the AGFC will have up to 45 privately owned flooded rice fields available to hunt by permit through its special duck hunting application process.
