AGFC drafts Dugger to lead new Private Lands Division

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Director Austin Booth recently announced the promotion of Garrick Dugger, former assistant chief of the agency’s Wildlife Management Division, to head up the AGFC Private Lands Habitat Division, a section of the agency devoted to increasing wildlife habitat throughout privately held land of The Natural State.

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission took time last week to offer a special “Thank You” to seven landowners and organizations involved in restoration and management of vital wildlife habitat on private land throughout The Natural State.

AGFC offers payments to rice producers for habitat and hunting access

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is accepting applications from rice field owners to enroll in its expanded Waterfowl Rice Incentive Conservation Enhancement program. Landowners may receive as much as $150 per acre annually while still maintaining the current production of rice fields. Applications are available at www.agfc.com/wrice and will be accepted until June 1.

AGFC and AFC partner with local landowner to benefit habitat through prescribed fire

LITTLE ROCK —  People west of Little Rock may have seen smoke plumes in the air over local landowner Ray Vogelpohl’s  land near the Perry-Pulaski county line, but the small flames producing that smoke were a good thing for the future of wildlife on Vogelpohl’s property. Thanks to a partnership between Vogelpohl’s , the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Arkansas Forestry Commission, the 24-acre burn was conducted safely and efficiently, hopefully setting the stage for many more to come.
