South Arkansas bear hunt highlights 2022 harvest

LITTLE ROCK — With a shortened three-day hunt window, hunters in south Arkansas’s much-anticipated bear season took full advantage of their December hunt, totalling 28 bears harvested in newly opened Bear Zone 4 from Dec. 10-12. Bear hunters in other portions of the state saw success as well.

Arkansas alligator season ends with 161 successful hunters

MONTICELLO — The 15th annual Arkansas alligator season came to a close early Monday morning with a nearly full ticket. Hunters harvested 161 alligators during this year’s two-weekend season.

Archery bear hunt quota met in Zone 1

MOUNTAIN HOME – Bear hunting with a bow was over nearly before it started this year in Bear Zone 1. In only three days, the 250-bear quota was met by bowhunters bagging their bruins.
The 72-hour season has some hunters scratching their heads, but Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Large Carnivore Program Coordinator Myron Means explains that it’s not due to a huge spike in the bear population or harvest-checking hijinks.
