You're never too young to start appreciating the brown trout that are prevalent in the White River at Cotter. Browns are beginning to make their reeds, the areas where they leave their eggs during spawning season, in shoals around the White, so watch out for them. Lou Gabric, the operator of Hummingbird Hideway Resort on Norfork Lake in north Arkansas, and a contributor to the Weekly Fishing Report, has been getting out more these days on Norfork and landing some nice fish. Here he's shown with a nice stringer of walleye, and he says the crappie, walleye and catfish are all biting fairly well now on Norfork Lake.
AGFC begins major hatchery renovation in North Arkansas

MAMMOTH SPRING — Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioners yesterday celebrated a successful partnership with trout anglers to begin a major renovation to the Jim Hinkle Spring River Fish Hatchery today in Fulton County. The hatchery is the only state-owned fish hatchery in Arkansas devoted to the production of trout.
