While regular duck season is on a 10-day hiatus in Arkansas, hunters can harvest specks through Friday and again from Sunday until Dec. 23, with the final segment running Dec. 26-Jan.31 concurrent with duck season. An enormous number of snows, blues and Ross's geese were seen in a field in Arkansas County not far from Brett Morgan Halowell Reservoir last week. The Light Goose Conservation Order for hunting these geese is in effect through Feb. 7 and from Feb. 9-April 25 throughout Arkansas.

Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry dines on donation from snow goose event

STUTTGART – The first World Championship Snow Goose Conservation Hunt, organized by Mack’s Prairie Wings and held Feb. 9-10, raised $31,000 for charity, with a third of that going to Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry, a nonprofit that works with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and hunters to provide wild game for needy, hungry recipients.

STUTTGART — A new, friendly competition may be a great way to bring awareness to a conservation issue and help feed needy families in Arkansas this February. The first World Championship Snow Goose Conservation Hunt competition will take place, Feb. 9-10 at Mack’s Prairie Wings in Stuttgart.
