AGFC planning angling increases for central Arkansas fishing holes

CONWAY — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hatchery managers and other key members of the AGFC’s Fisheries team have been planning nonstop on ways to help anglers find some fish during the upcoming renovation of Lake Conway scheduled to begin Sept. 1. In addition to all the work that will be done on Lake Conway, fisheries staff will be adding even more catchable-sized catfish to many nearby fishing locations to keep people busy during the project.

CENTERTON — In early March, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission staff from the C.B. “Charlie” Craig State Fish Hatchery in Centerton teamed up with other AGFC staff from northwest Arkansas to gather walleye from the King’s River and boost the success of their spawn for the future of Arkansas angling.
AGFC trout fishing winners announced

LITTLE ROCK — William Robinson of Rogers today was announced as the winner of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s 2022-23 winter tagged trout promotion. He will receive a free half-day guided fishing trip on the White River for up to six anglers, including a free night’s stay at White River Family Fishing of Arkansas’s lodge and a traditional shore lunch fish fry on the river during the day of angling.

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hatchery system and its partners stocked more than 14.6 million fish into Arkansas waters last year, even with a massive renovation project limiting the output of the Jim Hinkle Spring River Fish Hatchery in Mammoth Spring. Add to that more than 650,000 cubic feet of cover placed in fish attractors throughout the state last year and Arkansas anglers have plenty to cheer about.
