More than 9.4 million fish stocked in Arkansas lakes in 2019

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hatcheries produced and stocked more than 9.3 million fish during 2019 to improve fishing conditions for Arkansas anglers in 2019.

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocks hundreds of thousands of pounds of trout and catfish in small ponds throughout the state each year to offer anglers an opportunity to enjoy a day fishing from the bank without driving long distances to wet a line. The following ponds have been added to this growing list of locations and will begin to receive stockings of trout this week:

LITTLE ROCK — While fall temperatures are driving most anglers indoors or to the deer woods, staff at Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hatcheries throughout the state are still going full bore to improve future fishing conditions for anglers. More than 4 million threadfin shad have been raised in hatchery locations and nursery ponds throughout the year, and most of those shad have been released into Arkansas lakes in the last month.

White River anglers finding gold in their rainbows thanks to recent trout stocking

COTTER — Anglers on the White River below Bull Shoals Dam have struck gold in the last few days, thanks to a recent stocking of 7,500 rainbow trout, which included some with a golden color variation.
