Catch a rainbow for Thanksgiving

LITTLE ROCK — Turkey, dressing and football may be at the front of people’s thoughts during the Thanksgiving holiday, but the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has another tradition some people may want to take part in. The AGFC’s Family and Community Fishing Program is busy stocking rainbow trout in FCFP locations throughout the state.
AGFC’s Burnley earns Trout Unlimited award

FAYETTEVILLE — The Northwest Arkansas Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the nation’s grassroots army for trout and fisheries restoration and conservation, has named Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Stream Habitat Supervisor Tim Burnley as this year’s recipient of the annual Ray Smith Conservation Award.

AGFC sets Veteran/Active Duty Military Waterfowl Hunt, Arkansas waterfowl season dates clarified

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unanimously approved the addition of the veteran’s/active duty military waterfowl hunt to Arkansas’s youth waterfowl hunt days during today’s regularly scheduled meeting. This is the second consecutive year the Commission has approved the option since it was made available by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

AGFC to try tiger trout hybrid in Bull Shoals tailwater

MAMMOTH SPRING – Tiger trout, a hybrid of brown trout and brook trout often stocked in waters in the western and northwestern United States, will be stocked for the first time in Arkansas within the next couple of weeks, according to Christy Graham, trout program coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
