2023 Fishing and Trout Guidebooks available at agfc.com

LITTLE ROCK — Anglers looking for the latest version of the Arkansas Fishing Guidebook and Arkansas Trout Fishing Guidebook should begin seeing printed copies show up in their local sporting goods stores in the next few weeks, but there’s a better way to keep all the details on hunting and fishing regulations in hand no matter where you go.

Special treats hidden in AGFC’s holiday stockings

LITTLE ROCK — Last week, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hatcheries burned the midnight oil to transport 15,500 keeper-sized rainbow trout to Family and Community Fishing Program locations throughout the state as part of its annual winter fish stockings. Not only will these trout offer a great experience and tasty meal to those who frequent these ponds, but many have been marked with special tags to give a few lucky anglers an early gift for the holiday season.

Christy Graham, AGFC Trout Management Program Coordinator, presents a research project studying trout spawn behaviors on the Little Red River. After that, Meredith Swartwout, AGFC Competitive Grants Coordinator, presents how the AGFC funds research projects with grants and break down how we receive that funding through multiple sources.

Chris Hunter of Chicago caught a boatload of big fish at Bull Shoals Lake in recent days while fishing with guide Del Colvin. This walleye was an armful. His catch also included a big striped bass and some very large smallmouth bass, among his total haul. Del says the fishing is good at Bull Shoals even if you probably need to bundle up.
