UA Pine Tree WDA closed March 1-6

FORREST CITY – The University of Arkansas Pine Tree Experimental Station WDA will be closed to daytime public access March 1-6. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will be conducting aerial operations aimed at reducing feral hog populations in the area. The flights will be dependent on the weather.

Commission authorizes new boat access to Bayou Bartholomew

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unanimously approved at today’s regularly scheduled meeting the use of Marine Fuel Tax funds to build a boat ramp to Bayou Bartholomew at its intersection with Arkansas Highway 277 in Drew County.

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas will receive a share of the nearly $14 million being distributed in 2020 by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to states in the Mississippi River Valley to better manage and study Asian carp.

MONTICELLO – Four eastern Arkansas wildlife areas will be temporarily closed Feb. 18-29. Freddie Black Choctaw Island WMA, Cutoff Creek WMA, Trusten Holder WMA and University of Arkansas Pine Tree Experimental Station WDA will be temporarily closed while the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, conducts aerial operations aimed at reducing feral hog populations on the areas.
Big Lake WMA, St. Francis Sunken Lands WMA and Big Lake NWR closed Feb. 10-14
