Arkansas's regular waterfowl season has come to an end, but youths, veterans and active military personnel may hunt Saturday, Feb. 5, in the second of the state's two special statewide waterfowl hunts.

MT. IDA — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officers for the fifth year in a row joined Warrior Hunts for its annual “Squirrel-a-palooza” veteran’s squirrel hunt in the Ouachita Mountains last weekend.

An enormous number of snows, blues and Ross's geese were seen in a field in Arkansas County not far from Brett Morgan Halowell Reservoir last week. The Light Goose Conservation Order for hunting these geese is in effect through Feb. 7 and from Feb. 9-April 25 throughout Arkansas.

First statewide youth and veterans waterfowl hunt this weekend

LITTLE ROCK – This Saturday marks the first time in Arkansas history that members of the armed services and veterans will have a special day in the wetlands chasing ducks and geese. The Special Active Duty Military and Veteran Waterfowl Hunt will take place alongside Arkansas’s Special Youth Waterfowl Hunt Dec. 7, 2019 and Feb. 8, 2020.

BENTON - Corporal Mac Davis of Waldron and the members of the Monticello Regional Office Wildlife Division staff of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission were recognized for their commitment to conservation and outdoor traditions at the annual State Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet of the National Wild Turkey Federation’ Arkansas Chapter held at the Benton Event Center in Benton, Jan. 6.
