Public meetings to focus on dying bottomland hardwoods at Henry Gray Hurricane Lake WMA

Oct. 26, 2018

BALD KNOB - Roughly 212 acres of hardwood trees on Henry Gray Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area have died within the last few months and another 800 acres are showing signs of severe stress. This area within the WMA’s south greentree reservoir is an important habitat component for wintering waterfowl and a popular area with duck hunters searching for flooded hardwood hunting in Arkansas.

Greentree reservoir infrastructure operation plans unchanged for 2018-19 duck season

Sept. 5, 2018

LITTLE ROCK – With the opening of teal season right around the corner and the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon expected to bring a flush of rainy weather, duck hunters are already turning their eyes to duck hunting, which inevitably means more attention to Arkansas’s famous greentree reservoirs.

Target infrastructure operation dates for popular duck-hunting areas set for 2017-18 season

Aug. 9, 2017

Biologists with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission have developed later target dates for managing water control infrastructure on greentree reservoirs the AGFC manages. Operation of water control structures will not begin on most areas until Nov. 15, 2017, in an attempt to mimic natural historic flooding timing more closely than previous management.
