Mena’s Crawford honored as AGFC Game Warden of the Year

NORTH LITTLE ROCK – As Major Brian Aston of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission read off a three-minute list of some of the more amazing accomplishments of the officer he would announce Tuesday as the 2023 Sgt. Monty Carmikle Arkansas Game Warden of the Year, it struck some people in the audience that it was a wonder the winner would have time to attend the presentation, much less have much time away from his work.

Bush Named NWTF National Wildlife Officer of the Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The National Wild Turkey Federation honored Arkansas Wildlife Officer 1st Class Audrey Bush with the National Wildlife Officer of the Year Award for her dedicated commitment to Arkansas’s natural resources. The award was presented to Bush this weekend at the 47th annual NWTF National Convention and Sport Show.

Wildlife fines provide $645,493 to support conservation education in schools

LITTLE ROCK – Thanks to wildlife violation fines collected by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling $645,493.22 to promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to 206 schools, school districts and conservation districts in 68 Arkansas counties.

MT IDA — On the last weekend of January, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officers joined Warrior Hunts for its annual “Squirrel-a-palooza” hunt for veterans and their families. This was the seventh year in a row that the AGFC helped put on this hunt honoring our nation’s armed forces.

AGFC cleans up trash at Lake Wilhelmina

MENA — AGFC staff and Polk County recently gave Lake Wilhelmina in Polk County a thorough cleaning after wildlife officers were informed of a growing trash problem accumulating around the 200-acre AGFC-owned lake.
