Much of western half of lake is very shallow with cut stumps dispersed throughout the lake bottom. The lake has a poorly defined creek channel.

- Description
Gurdon Lake is an excellent location for bank anglers with a good amount of cleared shoreline adjacent to Gurdon City Park. There is a wooden fishing pier (handicapped accessible) with a roofed portion, located adjacent to the parking lot. There is a concrete single-wide boat ramp available. Lake water is tannin-stained and typically appears brownish in color. Lake was deeded to AGFC by International Paper Company and was renovated for public fishing by AGFC in 1991.

City of Gurdon maintains a public restroom at the City Park. The park offers playground equipment for kids.
- Location
South side of Highway 67 about one mile west of Gurdon in Clark County. From I-30, take Exit 63 (Highway 53) to Gurdon. Lake is approximately 7 miles from I-30.

Florida Largemouth Bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, crappie, and channel catfish.

Several other lakes and rivers are nearby for visitors to enjoy, including: DeGray Lake, Little Missouri River, Ouachita River, and White Oak Lake. For adventurous souls, the railroad tracks near Gurdon are known for the mysterious "Gurdon Ghost Light," which is claimed to appear at night along the tracks.
