Olympic silver medalist honored at shooting clinic

JACKSONVILLE — The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo may be over, but Arkansas’s own Kayle Browning is still making an impact in her home state. The Greenbrier native who took a silver medal in international trap shooting was honored at a special ceremony Saturday at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex and worked with budding shooting sports enthusiasts in a special shooting clinic presented by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Guide Austin Kennedy caught this nice, nearly 8-pound rainbow trout in the Beaver Lake Dam tailwater this past week. Austin goes with the Pautzke Fire baits in the tailwater. The tailwaters around the the state are the place to beat as the high heat and humidity linger on elsewhere in the dog days of August. Lots of good rainbow and brown trout catches were reported this week.

Early waterfowl seasons offer sample of hunting to come

LITTLE ROCK – Hunters wanting an early taste of waterfowl action need to break out the shotguns and bug spray. Arkansas’s early Canada goose season kicks off Sept. 1, and the Sept. 15 teal season opener is just around the corner.
