LITTLE ROCK — Hunting opportunities on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s newly expanded Waterfowl Rice Incentive Conservation Enhancement program will officially begin with white-fronted goose opportunities on Nov. 14-15. Applications for these draw hunt opportunities on private rice fields will be accepted Nov. 5-8.

Federal lawmakers, president score an ACE for bipartisan fish and wildlife act

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Trump on Oct. 30 signed the America’s Conservation Enhancement Act into law at the White House, completing the process to renew vital funding for conservation throughout the country. The ACE Act passed the House and Senate with bipartisan support and unanimous consent earlier this year.

Canada’s reduced hunter use unlikely to boost Arkansas waterfowl harvest

LITTLE ROCK – Travel restrictions into Canada for non-Canadians due to the coronavirus pandemic have dropped to zero the number of nonresident waterfowl hunters who typically venture to Canada’s prairies and parklands. One would surmise that with no U.S. hunters, many fewer ducks would be harvested during Canada’s waterfowl hunting season – and, well, those surviving ducks would eventually boost the potential harvest in Arkansas, right?

Lake Charles drawdown to begin Nov. 15 for waterfowl, fish habitat benefits

POWHATAN — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will conduct a planned drawdown of Lake Charles at least 8 feet below normal pool beginning Nov. 15 and lasting through January 2021. The released water will be used to inundate greentree reservoirs at Shirey Bay Rainey Brake Wildlife Management are for waterfowl habitat.

LITTLE ROCK — Hunters headed to deer camp to get things ready for opening weekend of modern gun deer season may want to make a quick pit stop to fuel up at their local Hardee’s restaurant. Every Hardee’s restaurant in Arkansas will give a free sausage biscuit to anyone who shows their valid hunting license to the cashier from 5-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11.
