Arkansas Feral Hog Task Force offers new handbook to help control nuisance pigs

LITTLE ROCK – Thanks to a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service to the Arkansas Feral Hog Eradication Task Force, landowners will have more knowledge available than ever before in their fight against feral hogs. Last week, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture announced the release of the newly created Arkansas Feral Hog Handbook, a guide to resources available in Arkansas to assist with feral hog control and eradication.

Brandon Pellham caught this 26.5-inch-long brown trout at Parker Bottoms in the Beaver Lake tailwater last Friday. Brandon was using a 2.5-inch Rapala Husky Jerk Minnow on a Fenwick HMG Rod, Mitchell308 reel with a 6-pound Power Pro Braid. Deer hunters advised to check with local processors before bringing deer to their door

LITTLE ROCK — Hunters planning to hit the woods Oct. 17 for Arkansas’s muzzleloader season and Nov. 14 for modern gun deer season may want to check with the deer processor they normally use to make the most of their harvest. Some processors who handle domestic livestock may be seeing a backlog from recent direct-to-butcher purchases at the beginning of this summer’s meat shortage.

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Wildlife, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s award-winning television show, is back with new segments and episodes just in time for fall and hunting seasons. The 13-episode Fall 2020 season started this past weekend and concludes Dec. 27.

Waterfowl guidebook available online

LITTLE ROCK — The 2020-21 Waterfowl Guidebook is at the printer and will be arriving in AGFC regional offices, nature centers and local sporting goods stores and license vendors soon. An electronic version also is available for those who want to carry a copy on their electronic device, or simply want to get a sneak peek at what’s new for the season.
