Videos help anglers find success on the water

LITTLE ROCK — Even though Free Fishing Weekend has passed, that doesn’t mean it’s time to hang up the fishing rods for the year. An annual fishing license in Arkansas is only $10.50, and anglers can find a brand new resource from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to teach them some basic techniques to improve their chances on the water. A host of new videos have been uploaded to the AGFC’s virtual nature center website at www.agfcnaturecenter.com.

Application period for Arkansas public land alligator hunts open

LITTLE ROCK – People interested in chasing an Arkansas alligator on public land and water this fall have until midnight June 30 to put their name in the hat. Applications for the 2020 Arkansas alligator season are available online at www.agfc.com.

Arkansas wildlife officers issuing ice cream citations to kids

LITTLE ROCK – Wildlife officers are on the lookout for Arkansas youth, and they have a sweet treat in store for those they “catch” enjoying the outdoors in a healthy way. Thanks to a continued partnership with Sonic restaurants, members of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Enforcement Division are outfitted with a special book full of ice cream “citations” they can hand out to youths during their daily activities.
Fish harvest is a key tool in conservation of resources

LITTLE ROCK – Some fishing conservation methods require more taking than leaving. Such is the case with several Arkansas lakes that, with no creel limits on certain species such as channel catfish, are encouraging anglers to take an unlimited number of that particular fish.
