Gov. Asa Hutchinson proclaims Arkansas Hunting and Fishing Week

LITTLE ROCK - Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed a special proclamation today in the Governor’s Conference Room at the state capitol recognizing Sept. 22-28, 2019, as Arkansas Hunting and Fishing Week. He also proclaimed Sept. 28, 2019, as National Hunting and Fishing Day in Arkansas. 
 

Commission grants $694,625 from wildlife fines for conservation education in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK – Schools and education groups throughout Arkansas will have additional funding for conservation education thanks to fine money collected by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Commissioners unanimously approved all fine money collected from wildlife fine violations in Fiscal Year 2019 to be transferred to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Rural Services at today’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Food plots create helpful habitat for wildlife and hunters on public land

PARON — With archery deer season opening Sept. 28, many hunters are hitting the woods looking for likely places to set up for the season. On private land, many are dragging a disc and spreading their favorite seed mix to grow food that will draw wildlife to their stand. Thanks to the work of Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife biologists throughout the state, tractors are turning dirt to plant thousands of food plots on public hunting areas as well.
 

Missing boat lane markers causing safety issue for Lower White Oak lakes

CAMDEN – Lower White Oak Lake, which underwent a renovation by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission earlier this decade, has seen several boat lane markers moved or go missing in recent years. This presents a safety issue because Lower White Oak Lake has many stumps below the surface.
