Academy Sports and Outdoors ‘Gets It for Game Wardens’

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation’s “Get It for Game Wardens” program received a generous donation from Academy Sports and Outdoors this week with the donation of $3,000 to purchase products to help Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officers protect and serve the natural resources of Arkansas.

AGFC drafts Dugger to lead new Private Lands Division

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Director Austin Booth recently announced the promotion of Garrick Dugger, former assistant chief of the agency’s Wildlife Management Division, to head up the AGFC Private Lands Habitat Division, a section of the agency devoted to increasing wildlife habitat throughout privately held land of The Natural State.

Arkansas’s wild turkey survey indicates 10-year high in reproduction

SPRINGDALE — Commissioners with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission heard some good news about Arkansas’s turkey population during a presentation at today’s monthly meeting held at the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center. AGFC Turkey Program Coordinator Jeremy Wood gave some preliminary results of the 2022 Wild Turkey Population Survey, which indicates some of the best reproduction in parts of Arkansas since 2012.

WMA named after Arkansas conservationist Kirk Dupps

ROGERS - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission honored one of its former commissioners by adding Kirk Dupps’ name to Northwest Arkansas’s Beaver Lake Wildlife Management Area adjoining Devil’s Eyebrow Natural Area. The unanimous vote to recognize Dupps with this honor was held in a special meeting Oct. 5. The official announcement was held at Tuesday’s special Night of Conservation event held in Garfield with Dupps and family present.
