AGFC, AEDC offering more than $735,000 in wildlife fine money for education grants

LITTLE ROCK — With students headed back to school, be it in-person or online, education is again in full swing in Arkansas, and so is the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Education Division. Thanks to fine money collected throughout the state for hunting and fishing violations, educators can increase some of their outdoor educational opportunities by applying by Oct. 8 for Wildlife Fine Grants administered through the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s (AEDC) Department of Rural Services.

Automated cameras capture wild moments in urban areas

LITTLE ROCK — When bears and deer occasionally wander into city streets and suburbs, the news always takes notice, but all sorts of wildlife make a living right in the middle of many cities around the country. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Hendrix College have launched a new research and outreach project that may shed some light on how wildlife in urban areas adapt to the presence of people.

Arkansas youths capture multiple national shooting sports titles

LINN CREEK, MO — COVID-19 may have caused the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to cancel its regional and state championship trap tournaments during the summer, but Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program participants still showed their stuff at this year’s Grand National Academics Integrity Marksmanship (AIM) Program Shoot at the Grand American Trap Shoot held Aug. 4-14. 

AGFC hears first official reading of 2021 fishing regulations proposals

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission heard the first official reading of 46 proposed regulations changes concerning fishing and fisheries management in Arkansas during today’s regularly scheduled meeting.
