AGFC offering payments to rice farmers for waterfowl habitat and hunting access

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is accepting applications from rice field owners to enroll in its expanded Waterfowl Rice Incentive Conservation Enhancement program. Landowners may receive as much as $150 per acre annually while still maintaining the current production of rice fields by following post-harvest guidelines and allowing permit-based hunts during waterfowl season on their properties. The program is aimed at enrolling rice fields within 10 miles of many AGFC wildlife management areas popular with duck hunters.

Lake Conway anglers see new boat lanes

AGFC partners with Conway for Toad Suck Daze Drive-Thru

For the safety of participants and animals, the Nature and Science Drive-Thru in Conway scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m.-1:20 p.m. is rescheduled for Wednesday, May 20, from 2-6 p.m.

CONWAY — Students may not be able to celebrate the end of the school year like usual this year, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be any celebration at all. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has teamed up with the Conway Chamber of Commerce and some local Little Rock partners to offer a special event from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Bear removal in White Hall reminds Arkansans to be “Bear Aware”

PINE BLUFF — Residents of a White Hall neighborhood had an early awakening Sunday morning as authorities responded to a call about a large black bear that had climbed into a tree nearby and had to be removed.

AGFC asks for input on amended wildlife regulations

LITTLE ROCK — During the April 23 meeting of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, commissioners heard the proposal of 100 regulations changes to wildlife and fishing codes. During the course of that meeting four of the proposals saw modifications or were tabled to not be included in this year’s regulations package that will be voted on in May.
