Get HIP with AGFC before duck hunting

LITTLE ROCK — Duck hunters have been cleaning and painting decoys, scouting property, brushing blinds and cleaning shotguns in anticipation of the opening day of duck season on Nov. 21. Every year a handful of them forget their most important pieces of equipment: a valid hunting license, including federal and state duck stamps and Harvest Information Program registration.

LITTLE ROCK — Turkey, dressing and football may be at the front of people’s thoughts during the Thanksgiving holiday, but the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has another tradition some people may want to take part in. The AGFC’s Family and Community Fishing Program is busy stocking rainbow trout in FCFP locations throughout the state. 

Make the most of your deer season harvest

JONESBORO — Arkansas is in the midst of deer season, and skillets are sizzling with the sound of a floured piece of backstrap cooking in grease. Alongside the backstrap will likely be a skillet of fried potatoes. As soon as the backstrap is done, a bit of flour will hit the grease, followed by some milk to brew up some gravy to cover the venison and accompany some biscuits cooking in the oven.

AGFC’s Burnley earns Trout Unlimited award

FAYETTEVILLE  — The Northwest Arkansas Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the nation’s grassroots army for trout and fisheries restoration and conservation, has named Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Stream Habitat Supervisor Tim Burnley as this year’s recipient of the annual Ray Smith Conservation Award.

SPRINGDALE – Art Feeds and T.G. Smith Elementary, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will unveil a special mural at the newly constructed J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center in Springdale at 1 p.m. November 13.

New waterfowl hunting opportunities through online drawing

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will accept applications for special permit hunts during the opening weekend of waterfowl season from Thursday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 15. These weekly drawings will continue throughout the 2020-21 Arkansas waterfowl season.

Free CWD tests for Arkansas deer hunters
